NMR / RABDF Gold Cup Open Day

NMR is delighted to continue sponsorship of this most prestigious award. Part of the sponsorship requires NMR to provide the refreshment tent at the winning herd's Open Day. This year, expecting over 500 interested farmers, we rented a much bigger marquee and increased the number of NMR staff working to keep the attendees hydrated in the hot and breezy July air! Along with the refreshment marquee, NMR also had our branded gazebo, collateral and merchandise on-site, sitting alongside our sibling AB Agri Dairy brands Kite and KW.
Michael Lee, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Harper Adams University gave the welcoming speech to a crowd of a good couple of hundred people, closely followed by a brief overview of the Gold Cup and RABDF from Robert Craig (Chairman) and Haley Campbell-Gibbons (Chief-Executive). Kate Robinson, Farm Manager of the award winning farm spoke so modestly about what they have achieved and was very grateful to her large team.
Finally Chris Walkland gave his usual annual Gold Cup speech in which he appeared to suggest that the June milk cheque would quite likely be the biggest on record. Whilst he didn't actually recommend those dairy farmers present to ‘make hay while the sun shines’ there was a touch of Harold Macmillan's 1950s ‘you’ve never had it so good' message. I'm not sure what those present would have made of that, but it certainly said to me that now's the time for farmers to start using more NMR services!!
There were four talk stations focused around the theme of the event People, Planet, Profit around the buildings, with the talks repeating throughout the day. Hats off to our own Karen Bond who spoke about Johne's to audiences of varying sizes at her dedicated Johne's Talk Station titled Stuck in the Much? Moving Forward with Johne's Control.
