Realistic financial gains from simple management changes at RABDF NMR Gold Cup Open Day

RABDF NMR Gold Cup winner, Neil Baker will be opening his farm gates at Haselbury Plucknett, Crewkerne on Wednesday May 25th providing all farmers with an opportunity to learn how simple management changes can bring about realistic financial gains.

Organised by the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers, the event will offer visitors the chance to find out how the award winning 1,700 cow herd is achieving an average 11,000 litres, at 4.0% butterfat and 3.5% protein, and various aspects of large herd management including sand bedding, selective dry cow therapy and high herd health status.
Neil Baker will start the day with an introduction to the farm followed by presentations on:
  • Using genetics and genomics for profit – Lucy Andrews, Priestcliffe Consulting and Andy Rutter, Genus
  • Day to day practical dairy tips to save money - Graeme Smith, Precision Nutrition
  • Reducing costs by calving heifers younger - Esme Moffett, Tom Shardlow and Kat Bazeley, Synergy Farm Health
  • Targeting zero antibiotic use - Duncan Williams, Kite Consulting
