The data can be loaded on to the PDA (personal digital assistant) from either the impelPRO program or the InterHerd program.
Pocket cow manager has 3 basic functions
1. Viewing individual animal records
Get the key information when it is needed. The animal record is easily selected from a simple scroll list. The animal record in Pocket Cow Manager includes
- Health and fertility event information for the last 3 lactations,
- Identity and pedigree information
- Milk yields and milk quality including SCCs
- Lactation summaries
2. Display Action Lists
- All the standard action lists are included; Cows to calve, cows to dry off, cows to be served and cows to PD cows to be served
- Cows due to return to heat or service is also present as is a milk withdrawal list.
- A recent update of a high somatic cell count list, as requested by the users, has been added.
3. Data entry
The best place to enter data is where and when it happens. Pocket Cow Manager allows the farmer to enter the data as is happens.
All fertility, health and movement data can be entered on the PDA. Treatments and drug usage along with batch numbers can also be recorded.
A new milk yield entry facility has recently been added.
The data is then uploaded to the management program (impelPRO or InterHerd) when the PDA is synchronised with the main computer.
NMR does not supply the hardware (PDA) to run the Pocket Cow Manager program. Today most PDAs are integrated in to mobile phones to give what is called a smartphone.
Smartphones provide access to email and calendars as well as having many other useful facilities. Please contact NMR customer services / software support for more information on the devices that Pocket Cow Manager can run on.
