All vehicles are fitted with refrigeration units so that payment samples are kept below 4.0 degreesC throughout their journey from farm to laboratory.
Each van covers approximately 100,000 miles per year. Lets put that into context. The average motorist covers 10,000 miles per year, so in the 3 years that NMR keep their vans they cover the equivalent of 30 years normal driving!
NMR Transports main duties are to collect the NMR herd management samples and payment testing samples from over 100 milk haulier sites and a number of other strategically placed sites from as far South as St Erth in Cornwall up to Glasgow in Scotland. Refrigerated payment samples are delivered to the National Milk Laboratories at Wolverhampton and Hillington and the NMR herd samples are delivered to the NMR laboratory at Harrogate. In addition, the NMR vans deliver IT kit for milk recording (laptops and printers), serviced empty NMR boxes and stores to the NMR fieldstaff throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
