New NMR data reflects dairy units' technical sustainability

New data published by NMR at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show, Stoneleigh shows the wide range in technical performance on UK dairy units. Drawing on data from more than 60% of the country’s dairy cows, the data shows a difference in herd average lifetime daily yield (LDY) of 8.9kg between the top and bottom 10%. This is the amount of milk each cow has produced per day of life. More

 

Gold Cup heads up north; Silver returns to Northern Ireland

Six go for gold in dairy industry's top award

Six dairy producers have been named as finalists in this year’s NMR/RABDF Gold Cup from more than 1,000 qualifying herds. Selected from entries throughout Britain, including herds in Scotland and Northern Ireland, these six herds spread from County Antrim to North Yorkshire and south to Dorset. More

NML wins major new disease surveillance contracts

National Milk Laboratories (NML) has been awarded two new contracts, one with Ireland's largest milk recording organisation Progressive Genetics and the other with the Royal Veterinary College, to carry out disease tests as part of surveillance programmes in dairy and beef cattle. More

 

Ten percent increase in Gold Cup qualifiers

This year almost 1,000 herds have qualified for the 2009 NMR/RABDF Gold Cup.  These herds, from across the UK and including all the main dairy breeds, have met the competition qualifying criteria for herd size, genetic merit and cell counts. More

 

NMR names new area manager in Cumbria

Vicki Edgar is the new area field manager in Cumbria for dairy information company NMR.  She is responsible for the NMR services in the county which involves co-ordinating the team of milk recorders in their day-to-day activities.  More
